I'm a Happy Camper

(Shirt: H&M, Skinnies: Hollister, Shoes: Sperry Topsiders, Bracelet: Homemade, Bandana: Vintage)

Sorry I'm so behind on outfits...This one is actually Thursday's so that's why I've been taking a few off days to get caught up. and now i am! so this outfit actually reminds me of going to summer camp. now i didn't go to one, but many do and this breezy and comfy summer outfit makes me look like a camper! We have a flowy cotton shirt (new...i got it at the mall), cuffed up skinny jeans (more seasonably appropriate, Sperry Topsiders (comfy, resemble sneakers or moccasins), a homemade bracelet (you make them at camp, and a bandana tied up like a headband in true 80's style (looks camp-y). so we have a very summery look for an equally summery day.

Top 10 Summer Reads

Hello there, C.C. here. I've been reading a lot this Summer. Have you? If you haven't or if you need some recomendations, you've come to the right place! Here are my top ten books as of right now:

10: Swoon at Your own Risk by Sydney Salter

This is Sydney Salter's third novel, and it's really great! It's kind of your typical teen fiction novel, which is why it isn't higher on the list, but overall, S.A.Y.O.R. is a really good book!

9: Chasing Perfection by Leah Alvord

Chasing Perfection is a self-published novel by Leah Alvord with a really unique and itneresting plotline. In the story,  Miranda Kirkpatrick is sent to a facility for perfect people, but everyting is not as it seems. As far as I know, it's only available through Amazon, which is sad.

8: The Statistical Probability of Falling in Love At First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

This is hit-you-over-the-head-with-a-love-story kind of novel, but it's not that sappy. It's not sappy at all actually. It's about two people who meet on a plane to London. That's all I'm going to tell you, because if I said anymore I'd be giving away the ending.

7: Incarnate by Jodi Meadows

Incarnate is a very, very long book, but it's well worth the read. In a land where everyone has reincarnated with memories of their previous lives intact for thousands of years, Ana is a newsoul, meaning that she is in her first lifetime. This story is very entertaining and unique.

6: Wither by Lauren DeStefano

When I first picked it up, I thought, "Ugh, not another dystopian future novel!", but it was actually very enjoyable. The plot focuses on Rhine, a girl who was kidnapped to become a polygamous bride. This happend frequently in the time the story is set in because a genetic malfunction has caused all males to die at 25 and all females to die at 20. It's a very interesting book that I recommend strongly.

5:Reality Check by Jen Calonita

A bit of a typical teen read, but it has a unique plot: Charlie and her friends are asked to do a reality show. The book is very enlightening as to how reality shows really work behind the scenes and how someone's life can change if they become famous. Very enjoyable!

4: Slide by Jill Hathaway

Everyone thinks Vee is a narcoleptic, but in reality, when she passes out she "slides" into someone else's body. It's very benign until she slides into the body of a killer. This book has what I think every book should: a good mystery. And there's barely any love story, which I also happen to like.

3:Social Suicide by Gemma Halliday

This is the sequel to Deadly Cool (number two on the list) and is a really great follow-up! I don't want to include a description because it's a bit of a spoiler alert. Definately read this one, but only after you've read Deadly Cool.

2: Deadly Cool by Gemma Halliday

The prequel to Social Suicide. In the story, Hartley's ex-boyfriend is accused of murder. Why? The girl he was cheating on Hartley with turns up dead in his closet. Eek! This story has a good mystery and little romance.

1: Glimmer by Phoebe Kitanidis

Glimmer. Glimmer, Glimmer, Glimmer. It's my favorite book! A deep mystery grips the town of Summer Falls, and it's up to Elyse and Marshall to figure it out. Yeah, I know that's a bad description, but I want you to read it so I'm not in danger of giving away anything. Good mystery. A must read!

That's all for now! Until next time...

Prep Squad

(Shirt: Land's End, Skirt: J. Crew, Belt: l.l bean, Shoes: Target, Bracelet: New York & Company)

 Hello All!
I apologize for not posting recently. My rare shopping trip just so happened to fall this week and i just could NOT find the time to post.
so this outfit was tuesday's outfit and the button-up is somewhat new and very preppy so i decided to go for it. a pinstripe button-up is one of those basics that everyone should have. it almost acts as a neutral. very preppy and professional. To contrast the blue in the shirt, i used an orange skirt for a pop. The bracelet was an ultra girly piece that went as a neutral and my belt and shoes matched and the buckles went together as well! Great outfit for shopping...I can tell you from experience!
happy summer!

Give Me S'more

Its that time of year again! This is a fail free way to make the perfect s'more, but this time without a fire.

What You'll Need

  • Conventional Oven
  • Chocolate
  • Graham Crackers
  • Marshmallows
Take out the Graham Crackers and split one in half so that you half a top and a bottom piece. Put two blocks of Chocolate on the bottom and then put a marshmallow on top (if the marshmallow is one of those giant ones, it might be easier to split it in half), and add another two chocolate blocks on the top. DO NOT PUT THE OTHER GRAHAM CRACKER ON TOP! Stick the creation in the conventional over and set it to 350 degrees. Let it sit for around five minute or until the marshmallow turns browinsh. Take it out, put on the top and enjoy.

Marvelous Manicures: Checkerboard

Hello there! I'm Cirrocumulus, or C.C. for short. Just for clarification, cirrocumulus clouds are those little puffy clouds that look like pieces of a quilt.

Today I'm going to show you how paint your nails in an awesome checkerboard pattern!

I'm using Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear #130 Blue Me Away!, Wet N' Wild topcoat,  and Sally Hansen nail art pen in black. You can use any colors you want as long as the color of the nail art pen shows up on your nail.

If you don't know how to use a nail are pen, follow the instructions on the box.

Step 1: Paint your nails a solid color that works well with the color of your pen.
Step 2: Draw a grid pattern on your nail with the nail art pen
Step 3: Fill in the squares in a checkerboard pattern
Step 4: Repeat steps 2-3 for all of your nails and add topcoat.

Absolutely Gorgeous!

Well, that's all for my first post! Until next time...

A Beachy, Boyish Twist

Oh summer, why oh why do you have do be so hazy, hot, and humid? That's right, the heat is back. But there are advantages to heat days...
-you can get some ice cream and have an excuse
-go to the beach
-go to the pool
-no matter what age, you can always run in the sprinkler!
-laze around in the A.C
that last one probably is a last resort...but still, it's an option!
so to beat the heat, i chose a denim skirt and a tee...not so fabulous...comfy, but not necessarily fashion forward. So i added a brand new pinstripe shirt and tied it up because it was so long. It gave the outfit a very beachy feel and then when i added the high-tops, it added masculinity. sunglasses to protect my eyes from the sun (as always) and a bracelet for a little glam and to bring SOME femininity in. So overall, this beachy, boyish outfit is a great ensemble for a summer day. Stay Cool!

Raindrop

(Dress: Forever 21, Cardi: Nordstrom's, Boots: vintage (similar here), Watch: Gift (similar here), Belt: Land's End, Necklace: Vintage)

As much as i have enjoyed the cool weather recently, it is quickly coming to an end. Although today was warmer than yesterday, it was still chilly and drizzly (hence the title). Because of all this dreary-ness, i went neutral with navy, brown, and gray as my color scheme. the subtle colors helped the styles come out. Details like the pockets on the dress or the buttins on the cardigan stand out more because of the lack of color. As you can see, the shoes and belt match perfectly as does the necklace/dress. The outfit is very neutral, but because of that, it catches your eye. Stay dry in this rain!

Beauteous Binders

I got these binders at target and let me tell you, they beat those ugly ones from staple's. They are only 1.5 inches, but that's why i got two and adore them. the patterns on the front (see top) are amazing! and, not to mention, they are recycled. so not only are you looking ah-mazing, but you are also saving the planet, one stylish binder at a time.
can be found here, here, or here

Cuffs

(Denim Shirt: Old Navy, Boat Neck Tee: Eddie Bauer, Skinnies: H&M, Pin: New York & Company, Watch: Gift (similar here), Shoes: Sperry Topsider)

So today was an insanely rainy day. Cold, rainy, miserable. That's why i wore longer sleeves/pants despite that fact that it's the end of july. However, i use many cuffs to make it more seasonally appropriate.  The boat shoes match the semi-nautical feel  of the layered denim/boat neck tee and pop of color skinnies. The flower is basically for decoration. Lastly, a watch brings back some white and helps me keep track of time. Awesome for a not so awesome day!
